Busted: Racket Selling Fake Herbal Pills for Sexual Health via Google Ads
In a recent raid, the Gurugram Police apprehended 11 individuals, including four women, accused of selling fake herbal remedies for improved sexual health. The accused advertised these so-called medicines on Google to lure unsuspecting victims.
The Modus Operandi
According to reports, the accused would exploit the victims’ concerns, tricking them into purchasing useless herbal products. The scam involved additional bogus charges like GST, parking fees, and courier costs. Payments were collected through UPI and QR codes for added legitimacy.
Gurugram Police raided a fraudulent call center in Sector 18
Acting on a tip, the Gurugram police formulated a special team led by ACP Vipin Alahawat. They raided the location, apprehending 11 individuals caught making calls to potential victims. During questioning, the callers admitted to selling fictitious sex-enhancing pills.
“The accused received a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 along with a 5% commission on the money they swindled,” revealed a police spokesperson.
Authorities confiscated seven mobile phones, SIM cards, two CPUs, and other relevant documents from the call center. The arrested individuals were presented in court and remanded to police custody.
