Hashoo Foundation Sets Up Sahara Fund to Help Marriott Hotel Employees
The tragedy of the 2008 bomb blast outside Islamabad Marriott Hotel has left scores of affectees in its wake. However, the magnanimity of Sadruddin Hashwani, the Chairman of Hashoo Group, has breathed new life into the dejected souls of the affectees.
He was the first one to commit his continued support of the families affected and, mirroring the sentiments of us all, he regrets the colossal human loss more than the monetary setback to his business.
On the directive of Hashwani, about 750 hotel employees are being paid their monthly salaries and will continue to be paid till the hotel is operational once again.
Supporting the affected families
Hashoo Foundation, Hashoo Group’s charitable organisation, has set up a Sahara Fund to more effectively cater to the foreseeable future expenses of the affectees. A clear strategy to enable the families to get back on their feet and not remain dependent on others is being formulated.
The fund seeks to address the families’ situation through absorbing their food, education, and health expenses. Provision of vocational trainings and assistance in securing viable jobs is also planned.
Hashoo Foundation’s charitable efforts
On a more personal note, Hashwani announced that he would be donating one crore rupees to the newly established endowment fund to supplement these efforts.
A beacon of hope for the affected families
The Sahara Fund is a testament to Hashoo Group’s commitment to supporting the community in times of need. The fund’s efforts will undoubtedly bring relief to the affected families and help them rebuild their lives.
