OnePlus Nord CE 4 Review: A Solid Upgrade with Enhanced Battery Life

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 is a top contender in the mid-range segment, offering enhanced battery life, a vibrant display, and dependable performance. This budget smartphone, priced at Rs 24,999, is competing against the Nothing Phone 2a, Samsung Galaxy M55, and many others in the crowded mid-range segment.

Upgrades and Improvements

OnePlus has given the Nord CE 4 many crucial upgrades compared to its predecessor, the Nord CE 3. The focus is on longer battery life and faster charging. The Nord CE 4 features a 5,500mAh battery, a 500mAh increase from the previous model, and supports 100W SUPERVOOC charging, compared to 80W SUPERVOOC charging previously. The device is powered by a newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC and has ditched the 2MP macro lens.

Display and Performance

The display is almost identical to the Nord CE 3, with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, Full HD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness has been increased to 1,100 nits. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS3.1 internal storage. The Nord CE 4 runs on OxygenOS 14, based on Android 14, which is a relatively clean Android skin.

Camera Performance

The cameras are identical to the Nord CE 3, featuring a 50MP Sony LYT600 primary sensor with optical image stabilisation support and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide sensor. The selfie camera is a 16MP sensor. While the camera performance is decent, it falls behind other smartphones in the segment, such as the Poco X6 Pro, when it comes to gaming.

Battery Life and Charging

The battery life is fantastic, thanks to the massive 5,500mAh battery. The device easily lasts over a day and then some on a single charge. If you aren’t gaming, it’s possible to last two full days on a single charge. The 100W wired charging support is also impressive, juicing up the device in just under 40 minutes.

Verdict

OnePlus has done enough with the Nord CE 4 to make it a viable upgrade from the Nord CE 3. There’s a fantastic battery life, a vibrant display, great performance, and a good primary camera. It’s a phone that just chugs along without breaking a sweat. The build quality is superb, and the design, although not appealing to all, is available in different colour options.
