SABIS Celebrates 125 Years of Excellence in Education
As I reflect on the remarkable journey of SABIS, I am filled with a sense of awe and admiration for this esteemed institution. Founded in 1886 in Choueifat, Lebanon, SABIS has grown to become a global leader in education, with close to 70 educational organizations and over 70,000 students. The recent celebration of its 125th anniversary is a testament to its enduring legacy and commitment to excellence.
Students, staff, and alumni gather to mark this significant milestone.
A Unique Approach to Education
What sets SABIS apart is its innovative approach to education. By assessing students several times a week, mostly through computerized tests, SABIS identifies knowledge gaps and provides targeted support to ensure students have the prerequisite knowledge to understand new material. This approach has yielded impressive results, with over 200 Gulf graduates joining British universities last year.

Inspiring Alumni
The SABIS community is proud to count among its alumni accomplished individuals who have made a significant impact in their respective fields. Dr. Bassem Al Abed, a Choueifat graduate with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London, shared his inspiring story with students. Zaid Siksek, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Health Authority and a graduate of Choueifat and Johns Hopkins University, also addressed the gathering. Saif Ghobash, a graduate of Choueifat and the Wharton School, currently a project manager in the Office of Strategic Affairs of the Crown Prince, shared his insights with the students.
