Samsung Bringing Galaxy AI Features to Older Devices

Samsung has exciting news for its users with older 2022 series phones and tablets. The tech giant has announced that it will introduce generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) capabilities to these devices next month. This move aims to enhance user experience and keep older devices up-to-date with cutting-edge technology.

The company’s Galaxy AI is set to be powered by Google’s gen AI Gemini Large Language Model (LLM). This collaboration promises to bring advanced AI features to Samsung devices, offering users a seamless and intelligent experience.

Cutting-Edge Features

The Galaxy AI feature is designed to handle simple tasks on-device without the need for an internet connection. Users can enjoy real-time language translation and interpretation, with support for 13 languages including Hindi and English. For more complex tasks, the Galaxy AI will leverage Gemini Pro, which requires cloud-based server connectivity.

One standout feature is Circle to Search, where users can circle an object in a photo, triggering a pop-up Google search screen that provides relevant information. This feature extends to social media posts and videos, enhancing the way users interact with digital content.

Another notable addition is Note Assist, which streamlines organizational tasks through auto-formatting and summarization capabilities. Additionally, Transcript Assist enables users to create precise meeting summaries and translations, simplifying communication and collaboration.

Rollout Details

Samsung is gearing up to release a new One UI 6.1 update that includes Galaxy AI features for various devices. The update is scheduled to reach the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 series in early May. Users will have the opportunity to experience these generative AI features for free for a limited time.

However, Samsung has assured its customers that these features will remain free until the end of 2025. Beyond this period, subscribers may need to opt for premium plans to continue accessing the services.

Stay tuned for more updates as Samsung continues to innovate and enhance the user experience with cutting-edge technology.
