UAE’s Most Ambitious Interior Landscaping Project Takes Shape
The United Arab Emirates is on the cusp of witnessing its most ambitious interior landscaping project to date. Planters, the UAE’s first interior landscaping company, has been contracted to landscape the interior of the new BurJuman Shopping Centre in Bur Dubai.
BurJuman Shopping Centre’s new interior
According to Jonathan Pardoe, General Manager of Planters in Dubai, “This project will be a first for a shopping mall in the Emirates, with live trees as tall as 6.5 metres in height being installed in an interior of a building. The sophisticated shopping experience which BurJuman already offers will be further enhanced by the experience of walking through the most exotically planned interior of a shopping mall in the Emirates.”
“The Olea Europaea has a very distinct feature. Its trunk looks rugged and weather beaten - grey, gnarled, bumpy and contorted.” - Jonathan Pardoe
The project will feature a combination of two exotic tree species, including the ancient Olea Europaea, an olive tree originating from the Mediterranean basin. Around 7 trees will be used to create an internal olive grove, promising to be a showstopper. The second exotic tree species is the Veitchia merrillii, an exotic palm that can grow up to 6.5 metres tall, originally from the Philippines.

The Veitchia merrillii is characterised by its clusters of bright red, drupe-like fruits and inconspicuous white-yellow flowers. This unique combination of tree species will undoubtedly elevate the shopping experience at BurJuman Centre.

With this ambitious project, BurJuman Centre is poised to set a new standard for shopping malls in the Emirates, offering an unparalleled retail experience that combines luxury and nature.
