Vivo X Fold 3: The Slimmest Foldable Phone on the Market?
Vivo is set to bring its premium X Fold 3 series to India next month, and it’s touted to be the slimmest foldable phone on the market. Measuring just 11.5mm in thickness when folded and weighing a mere 236gm, this device is sure to turn heads.
But what makes the X Fold 3 series so special? For starters, Vivo has used a carbon fibre-based highly durable hinge that’s been tested under stringent conditions to ensure the device serves customers for several years. In fact, the company tested close and open operations 500,000 times, equivalent to 12 plus years of usage.
The X Fold 3’s durable hinge is designed to withstand the test of time.
On average, a smartphone user opens their device at least 100 times a day, which equals 36,500 fold operations in a year. And, for 12 years (4,383 days) of usage, a person is understood to perform at least 4,38,300 folds. That’s a lot of wear and tear, but Vivo’s hinge is designed to withstand it all.
The X Fold 3 series also comes with Google’s generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) Gemini-powered features, including real-time translations, audio transcription, and note assist. This means users will have access to a range of innovative features that will make their lives easier.

In terms of display, the X Fold 3 features a 6.53-inch cover display, which unfolds to reveal a massive 8.3-inch wide display. The device also supports 4,500nit peak brightness, the highest for any foldable phone to date.
Under the hood, the X Fold 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage (UFS 4.0), and a 5,700mAh battery. It also supports 100W wired charging speed and 50W wireless charging speed.

The device also comes with a 50MP triple camera setup and a 32MP selfie camera on the cover display, as well as another on the wide screen inside.
So, how much will the X Fold 3 series cost in India? In China, the device costs around Rs 1.17 lakh (based on the latest Forex rates). It remains to be seen if Vivo will keep the same price range in India or not. If it’s assembled locally, the price may not change. But if it’s imported, the price will be at least Rs 20,000 more than in China.
